I set out to try to make something that could be used for a video game or anime. Whether that be a loading screen, played during game play, an intro or even a cut scene, I wanted it to have a little more hip-hop vibe to it as well.
The song is in the key of Bb major. I kept it simple with most of the chords I used. vi (G) – vii (A) – I (Bb) – iii (D) – IV (Eb) – V (F) – I (Bb) – iii (D) – IV (Eb), these chords repeat across the entire piece. Having the chords being played by violins is the part I wanted to try to transport you to another world or time. The melody instrument is a harp sounds beautiful and paired with the violins starts to bring you into a medieval time period. The Harp track is a bit more complex, making this track I wanted it to really have a lot of the attention even at a softer volume.
Being at 100 bpms and a 4/4 time signature it can be used for a lot of different parts of a video game or anime. The drums are on a back beat inspired groove. While choosing a kit I wanted something that I could have hit and not take away from the harp. While trying not to make it too simple. After mixing it all down I decided to take out the snare and make my own with the esp synth to bring the beat more into the digital world.
Using the esp I created the snare sound track (track 2). Not doing a whole not to it but adjusting the noise all the way up and giving it a little turn of the wah effect knob and making the duration and sustain around the same level with a quick attack and release. Then making another synth track I decided to use the es1 and make more of a buildup note to going along with the percussion siren hit. This sound is what pulls me into that fantasy world even more (Track 6). While creating this a friend of my who streams wants to use it for the back ground of his streams. I took one of his sound effects and loaded it in the quick sampler and spliced it to make the burr sound (track 10,11).
While mixing I decide to put reverb on all of the drum tracks (tracks 1-6). I did this to bring them more together and give the piece a stronger backing for the harp. On the Chord track I put an echo delay to keep the chords in your ears a little longer(Track 7) . Making those notes try to feel like they are floating along.
Putting compression on to the bass track helps hide it in the piece to help the accent the bass drum when needed. I like to put heavy compressing on the bass bringing the dbs back over -10 with a 4 ratio. This sound really brought it right into the mix. Using the pitch shifter on an audio quick sample track to lower the tag to sit better in the mix.

Completing this project I learned and had a lot of fun. The seven of us working on this project worked well together. MY assigned duty for this job was to be our Audio tech or A1, being in charge of everything audio. I had to discuss with my Director, Lighting director, Technical Director, and our Camera operator to plan our stage plot and execute day of performance. I was in charge of all of are speaker set up, where the audio cables are run, and micing our talent. With being in a small venue we did run into some problems on how we had to run our audio cables. We had to make sure all our audio cables did not cross power lines or if they did they were crossing perpendicular to not mess with the audio feed. In constant communication with the technical director who needed to get my audio signal for the recording. We made sure that all my cables connected to the proper inputs and he was getting signal from the board. Knowing from our previous takes the audio was coming in low on the recording. During the final when i routed the audio back to the flypack I turned up the mic so it was coming in louder. I made sure all our transition for audio were timed according to what was on the screen. I made the music fade in and out along with all of the videos audio to coordinate with the presentation. With all our hard work, enjoy the above video of the presentation and the below pictures of the stage plot and call sheet
